Level 10 + A secondary profession

This afternoon I hit level 10 after finishing the profession quests on Shing Jea Island and have chosen my secondary profession. I decicded to opt for Ritualist to take benefit from their defensive skills and spirits. After finishing up the quests around the Monastery areas I'll be stepping into the Harbour area, which tends to bit a bit of a step up from the begining regions. Fingers crossed.

To be honest, your choice of a secondary profession concerns me, especially when you mentioned before that you've never played Assassin before. I play an assassin main and while I'm pretty far away from survivor, I am a tad worried that you'll dilute your bar to the point that you won't really be doing much for your team besides being a 70AL meatshield. Spirits don't really have a place on an assassin bar. A strong assassin build requires a lot of devoted skill slots for attack skills anyway, so it's intriguing that you have that much spare room. Perhaps you could post your bar as you progress and the build that you're eventually going to use at lvl 20?

Posting my skill bar is something I'll definately do once it becomes more stable. I appreciate your advice/comments :)

I appreciate that secondaries such as Ranger or Dervish can be more advantageous, but I want to completely avoid Critical Barrage etc.

Ritualist was perhaps an odd choice, but it has other benefits beside the spirits in my eyes, the weapon skills are quite potent defensive and offensive tools also.

But we'll see how it goes, it can always be changed :)

Hii good luck on your survivor assassin.

It has always been my favorite class to play as well as my first and main one.

The fact that you're staying away from weaksauce crit barrage is very admirable so lemme give you some tips. (1) The more HP you have the more "invisible" you are" (2) Once you're able to, head to Elona for 'Critical Agility', (3) Never be either the first to head in and last to get out.

My best wishes for you. :3

I don't particularly agree with ricardo as far as the "weaksauce" nature of crit barrage (though I wouldn't use it as my main over Moebius Blossom, it's quite powerful and in my opinion gives the assassin the survivability of the ranger at the expense of the ridiculous damage potential assassins normally have), but I do agree with his main points. HP is vital in giving monks time to heal you before you die as well as in avoiding aggro, and Critical Agility is insane on an assassin. Critical Defenses should probably make its way onto your bar as well: it requires a bit more luck to keep up for long periods of time, but is excellent at keeping you alive against melee pressure and keeping your monks happy.

@alystia: yeah, I understand that there's really no point in posting a bar when you're still at the point where you're just using good skills as they become available to you. Weapon spells are pretty cool, but I will point out that you don't want to dilute the raw killing power of the Assassin. That's what we play them for, after all! I have a feeling I know where you're going with that, though, so I'll concede that point.

I'll also point out that getting over to Elona is important not only because of Critical Agility, but also because you need heroes ASAP. A strong hero monk (or N/Rt resto necro) is often the difference between a beautiful victory and a wipe.

Thanks for the further comments guys. I'm not avoiding Crit Barrage because it's a weak method, it is infact, from my understanding, quite strong. My decision is mainly due to my aim to do this as Assassin and as "properly" as possible, without devaluing the title. If I went Crit Barrage, I might as well go for LS on a ranger (which I've considered, I love rangers, 33 months old and counting for mine ;))
